The Missouri State Park System has 93 parks/historic sites – 57 parks and 36 historic sites – spread out around the state in 6 regions. Those regions are St. Louis, Kansas City, Central, Lakes, Northeast, and Southeast.
In general, there are two types of parks/sites. Those for Day-Use (or Day Visits), and those with camping/lodging.
Activities vary by the type of park/site. While most historic sites offer daily tours and educational opportunities, the parks offer tons of outdoor activities (hiking, biking, swimming, kayaking, camping, nature programs, etc.).
The parks are free for everyone to explore. However, there are minimal fees for tours, museums, and camping.
In addition to the parks and historic sites, the Bruce R. Watkins Cultural Heritage Center and the Trail of Roger Pryor Pioneer Backcountry are also maintained by the park system.
